Rockville Hills
Rockville Hills

I arrived at the park’s east entrance off of Rockville Rd. and was amazed at the full parking lot. There were a couple groups of riders gearing up and heading out as well as several hikers and dog walkers. Everyone was out enjoying the perfect weather and getting in a little exercise before the onslaught of eating. From the parking area I headed up the Bay Area Ridge Trail to the first information kiosk. Not having a planned route I wandered from trail to trail just taking what looked interesting. The map I had was good, but the number of trail junctions and intersections can be a bit confusing and some trails are much more technical than others.
I was reunited on this day with my trusty Klein Attitude hardtail that I keep in California. It’s always good to see an old friend and this bike is so much fun to ride; the feel is so familiar from rides of years ago. Light-weight and super responsive, when you pedal this bike takes off. It was a blast to really hammer on the smooth and fast sections of trail. Overall it was a great day to be out in the warm sunshine and spin for a few hours. Rockville is a great place to explore as you can’t stray too far from the compact trail network. It is well worth the trip out if you’re in the area.

Over the holiday weekend I was giving thanks at Rockville Hills Regional Park in Fairfield, CA, just east of Napa. Although a small park, Rockville has a little bit of everything and is a really fun place to explore.
